The chapter is pleased to announce that on Nov 16th 2009, Chef Van Atkins, CEC, AAC, HGT, regional corporate chef for Custom Culinary received the Antonin Carême medal. The Antonin Carême Medal program was founded by The Chefs Association of the Pacific Coast, Inc. (now the ACF San Francisco Chapter) in 1969. The purpose of the program is to honor those rare individuals who have made extraordinary contributions to the culinary profession, particularly to education and the advancement of gastronomy and the culinary arts. Prospective recipients demonstrate unequaled culinary excellence along with the highest compassionate, humane qualities.
The ACF chefs Las Vegas chapter has a number of medal recipients, including Chefs Heinz Lauer 2008 recipient, Michael Ty, John Hui and Gustav Mauler. These chefs are in a select group of 148 individuals that also include Julia Child.
The Board of Directors would like to acknowledge Chef Van Atkins and all previous winners for this prestigious accolade.
We would also like to recognize Chef Heinz Lauer, who was awarded the President’s trophy, from the International Food and Beverage Forum for is contribution to the success of the World Gourmet Summit held in Las Vegas this past November.
