This year it has been my pleasure to serve as Chairman of the ACF Associate Advisory Board. I would first like to say thank you to Desert Gold Food Company for all of their support and to say thank you to the members of our ACF Advisory Board team. I would like to also give a special thanks to Lorri Davidson from Southwest Gas for her guidance and assistance this year.
We, as a board, set our sights very high this year with
our 11th Annual Golf Tournament benefiting the Chefs
Scholarship Fund and Chef for Kids. Adam Gail from Sysco
was the Chairman and Tom Albanese of Food Sales West, John Connolly from Holten Meats and Greg Schenkel from Meadow Gold Dairy were the team that helped put it all together. The event was held for the first time at the Boulder Creek Golf Club. Nestle Food Service and Food Sales West were our major sponsors making it a very successful event where a good time was had by all. The Tournament is to show our support to the Chefs of Las Vegas and our effort resulted in a $14,000 donation this year. If you are interested
in playing in next year’s event, sponsoring a team, or
puchasing a hole sponsorship, please contact Joel Minkin from US Foodservice. The Golf Tournament has always been our major fund raising event for the year, but this group wanted to do more! The
Taste of Downtown was a new event for us in May 2008. Thanks to our committee Rick Albrecht from Farmer Brothers, Lorri Davidson from Southwest Gas and Mike Fryer from Food & Beverage News of Las Vegas Magazine and our newest board member, Daryn Fratilla from Market Smart. Our first annual Taste of Downtown was a great tasting of restaurants from Downtown with cooperation from the Fremont Street Experience. We plan to make this an annual event and are happy to report we raised $4,400 in 2008 for the Chefs
charities. For information regarding our 2009 Taste event
contact Lee Weiss at Linco Sales.
I would like to thank all the sponsors that participated in these activities over this past year. This was an exciting year for the Associate Advisory Board. We are proud to support the
Chef for Kids breakfasts and all the other ACF Chefs of
Las Vegas activies. I would like to say a special thanks to our well seasoned Honorary Member, Max Daffner, for his dedication and support to the group. There will be some changes for next year as Adam Gail will be stepping down and we welcome Patrick Simon who will be taking his place. I’m looking forward to serving as Chairman for next year and special thanks to my wife who attended all the events with me.
Lance Cranford, Chairman
